Cross Timbers Gazette Profiles Mendoza Ahead of May Election

Cross Timbers Gazette published a candidate profile of Tomas Mendoza on April 10 as part of its coverage of the May 2 mayoral race — and it paints a clear picture of who he is and what he is running on.

Mendoza, 57, has lived in Justin for 19 years. He currently serves on the Justin City Council in Place 2, a seat he has held across three terms. His record in that role forms the foundation of his campaign for Mayor.

In his questionnaire responses, Mendoza put four priorities at the center of his platform: infrastructure, public safety, volunteer support, and clear communication between City Hall and residents. Those aren't abstract talking points — they reflect what he has heard from neighbors across Justin over nearly two decades of involvement in this community.

His campaign message is direct: Justin is growing whether we plan for it or not. The question is whether that growth is managed carefully, or allowed to outpace the roads, services, and character that make this city worth living in. Mendoza is running to make sure it's the former.

"I want to protect what makes Justin special while making sure we're ready for what's already coming," he said.

Early voting runs April 20 through April 28. Election Day is Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 7 AM to 7 PM. Read the full Cross Timbers Gazette profile at the link below.

Denton County Republican Party Endorses Tomas Mendoza for Mayor of Justin

The Denton County Republican Party has announced its endorsements for the May 2, 2026 General Municipal Election — and Tomas Mendoza is among the candidates receiving the party's official support for Mayor of Justin.

According to Cross Timbers Gazette, precinct chairs gathered to select endorsed candidates across several local races in southern Denton County. In addition to the endorsement, each selected candidate receives a $1,000 financial contribution made possible through party donors, community sponsors, and proceeds from a recent Lincoln Reagan Dinner silent auction.

"This is something that is long overdue," party leadership said in a statement. "Supporting candidates at the local level is exactly what a strong Republican Party should be doing."

The party also recognized the candidates who stepped up to run, noting that real change begins close to home. "Real change starts at the local level — in your neighborhoods, your schools, and your communities," the statement read.

Mendoza, who currently serves on the Justin City Council in Place 2 and has lived in Justin for 19 years, welcomed the support. His campaign is focused on infrastructure, public safety, and clear communication between City Hall and the residents it serves — values that align with the party's emphasis on strong, accountable local governance.

Early voting begins April 20 and runs through April 28. Election Day is Saturday, May 2, 2026, with polls open from 7 AM to 7 PM.

Tomas Mendoza Is Officially on the Ballot for Mayor of Justin

The filing period for Justin's May 2, 2026 General Municipal Election closed on February 13, 2026 — and Tomas Mendoza is officially in the race for Mayor.

The City of Justin's official candidate filing page confirms that three candidates submitted applications for the Mayor's seat: incumbent James Clark, Tomas Mendoza, and Joe Cokel, listed in the order they filed. Cross Timbers Gazette reported the same following the close of filing.

For Justin voters, this means a real choice on the ballot this May. Tomas has served three terms on the Justin City Council, served as Precinct Chair for Denton County, and has called Justin home for nearly two decades. He is running on a platform of responsible growth, transparent government, and leadership that puts neighbors first — not special interests.

"I didn't file because I wanted a title," Mendoza said. "I filed because Justin deserves leadership that's honest about what's coming and steady enough to face it with the community."

Early voting runs April 20 through April 28, 2026. Election Day is Saturday, May 2, 2026, with polls open from 7 AM to 7 PM.
